Beginning on December 1, the State Workers’ Compensation Board will implement new guidelines for the care of back, neck, shoulder and knee injuries. The new Workers’ Compensation rules shorten the amount of time and limit the type of care available to injured workers. The State Workers’ Compensation Board says when physicians appeal on behalf of their patients, they’ll have to provide medical evidence that treatment is working. Chiropractors and physical therapists say they’ve heard many primary care physicians admit that they are going to stop participating in the workers’ compensation program because this will add another layer of paper work to their already overloaded schedules.
